Why Orient Islamic School ECD?

Choosing the start of your child’s educational journey is a daunting task for any parent. Which is why at Orient Islamic School, our ECD focuses on nurturing the children in our care with the utmost love, care and planning to ensure that school feels like an exciting adventure for our little ones.

The early years of a child’s life is a fundamental time in their development. Our ECD unit boasts educators and teacher assistants who embody warmth, kindness and a passion for education. The daily schedule places an emphasis on learning through play, with lessons providing a variety of sensory opportunities for discovery and exploration.

Learning occurs both indoors and outdoors, with children exploring concepts through guided activities that include movement, art through various sensory mediums, science experiments that enhance curiosity and critical thinking, and play that steers our young learners towards a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Our structured Coding and Robotics program allows our children to gain a head start in our technologically driven world. Orient Islamic School boasts a state-of-the-art computer lab with the latest in robotic technology which learners visit and are taught to operate. They are also taught instrumental computer literacy skills so they are able to navigate their way around a desktop.

A Maker-Space room that pushes the boundaries of learners’ creativity and potential, a well-stocked library that unlocks the door to a world of wonder, a playground that is built to accommodate every single child - those who love to run and jump, those want to dig deep and get messy with water or foam, those who want to paint, or those who want to get lost in a world of fantasy play in our life-size dollhouse - every child has something that appeals to their unique interests!

Sport lessons are structured to develop the gross motor skills of our learners in a way that is fun and develops their self-confidence. Additional programs are included throughout the year to further enhance a love for a sport and to hone their skills, such as a Learn to Swim Program, Soccer Development Clinic, and Cricket Coaching.

At the root of all that is done at Orient Islamic School is the Quraan and Sunnah. Whilst a love for our Creator is incorporated into the daily program, a detailed Islamiaat curriculum ensures that the foundation for Quraanic literacy, surahs and duas, as well as the pillars of Islam are taught in a manner that is both educational and fun for our little ones.
